Walled Garden tidy dates

Thanks to everyone who came along yesterday 12th August, to take part in our Walled Garden Tidy. The dates of the next garden tidies are: Saturday 16th September Saturday 14th October Saturday 18th November. We were disappointed to see that  6 plants which we had put into one of the beds had been removed between last Sunday and Wednesday. They were just becoming established.  All new planting in the walled garden is donated by members of the public and Friends of Barshaw park and their supporters. Next phase of improvements commencing

The next stage of the investment in Barshaw Park is set to commence with the installation of new play equipment Works will start week commencing Monday 10 July  marking the second phase of improvement works. These works are part of a phased programme of infrastructure works. The works are likely to last approximately six weeks at Barshaw Parkdisruption to the public. Model Yacht Racing on the Pond at Barshaw Park

On Saturday 8 October, there is a day of model yacht racing on the pond in Barshaw Park. Clubs from across Scotland will compete as regional teams for the Karachi Cup. ailing will take place 0945 to 1530 with the presentation of the cup at approx 1600hrs. The weather forecast is good – come along and watch the highly skilled sailing!

Saturday 3 September. Doors Open Day Walled Garden Tour 4pm

Barshaw Park Peace Garden Come along to Barshaw Park for a guided walk of the walled Peace Garden at 4pm on Saturday 3rd September. The park was officially opened in 1986, the International Year of Peace, and features a variety of flowers and plant life. The tour will last approximately one hour and give insight into the recent history of the garden and historical information on Barshaw House.  

World War 1 Connections with Barshaw Park, Paisley

The First World War affected millions across the globe and changed our world. Barshaw park has many WW1 connections and Friends of Barshaw Park will be applying for a grant from the Heritage Lottery WW1 Fund for a project to tell visitors to Barshaw Park about this history and to commemorate the people who contributed to the war effort and to those whose lives were affected. Yacht Races for Naval Architecture Students

On Thursday 31st March 2016, Paisley Model Yacht Club hosted a series of informal races for students of Naval Architecture from the University of Strathclyde. The students had designed and built small radio-controlled yachts of the ‘Strathclyde 70’ Class as part of their studies, with guidance from David Smith, Secretary of Paisley Model Yacht Club. The formal work of the class had ended with a series of races in the University’s Testing Tank in Maryhill but some of the students took advantage of the offer of a chance to try out their yachts in the more realistic conditions of Barshaw...

Our AGM will be on 20 April 2015 in Rowantree Cafe at 7.30pm. All our friends are welcome.Please let us know if you plan to attend. We are currently looking for up to 5 committee members to join the present Board. Previous experience is NOT necessary, simply a desire to support our efforts to maintain and improve our park. If you have skills in fund raising, marketing, consultation or like gardening, organising fetes, or tidy ups then so much the better, but a willingness to support our efforts is the main criteria. The minimum time required is 2 hours per month.
